This piece was commissioned with the request of a love theme.

I deliberately placed the female cardinal at the top of the branch as if on a pedestal for the admiring male.

The dogwood blossoms provide an appropriate springtime setting for the approaching male's "first date."

The birds are carved from wood, but the branches are steel and the dogwood blossoms are made of copper.
